Categories
Categories are used in Kleer to divide revenues and costs into different groups.
These are objects that you define yourselves so that you can then follow up on them.
Categories have two levels. A category is the group, and its values are called category entries. You can, for example, have the category âProjectâ with one category entry per project. You can set up as many categories as you like, but it is not possible to build more levels than these two.
You set up the categories under Settings > Categories.
A cost can be distributed across several category entries within the same category. The total may be at most 100%, but it does not have to be exactly 100%: if you only distribute part of it, the rest is simply undistributed.
Two settings per category are worth knowing about from the start:
- Default entry: the category entry that automatically takes care of what has not been distributed. With a default entry, a partly distributed cost still becomes fully distributed.
- Entry required: checks at authorisation that the category has actually received an entry. The requirement can be limited to certain account ranges, so that it only applies to the accounts where the follow-up matters.
Categories and category entries are never deleted, they are inactivated. What has once been booked on an entry therefore continues to be correct, and the list can be filtered on active, inactive or all.
